That's part of it!!! HOWEVER some Freesat EPG data streams need to get added to each transponder through data adapter hubs that Sky run. Sky have a limit on new services they will add each month (even for themselves!) to ensure stability - so Freesat has a limit to the rate that they can launch channels which are prepared to pay! i do wonder how many freesat boxes have been sold so far - if it's not that many it's a bit of a cheek for them to be asked to fork over 100 thousand ( i think) to be included on an unproven service for a year. -- Gareth. that fly...... is your magic wand.... |

No, the Alba/Grundig/Bush/Goodmans models now have that facility too. Have existing receivers had that ability added via a software update, or does it only apply to newer models in the shops? -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical decision ever made in the history of UK broadcasting: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...ion_of_dab.htm |

How long does £100,000 get you included on the Freesat EPG for? And where did you find out how much it costs? -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical decision ever made in the history of UK broadcasting: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...ion_of_dab.htm |

No, AIUI there's been an OTA software update. |

I should hope so too. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical decision ever made in the history of UK broadcasting: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...ion_of_dab.htm |

Sky seem to charge about 65k, and that's per year. http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_..._PriceList.pdf Couldn't find any such data on Freesat's website, just marketing fluff. |

As far as I'm aware all Freesat box can be upgraded over the air. Unlike Freeview, when there is an update it is broadcast continuously so you cannot miss it. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

The figures being quoted elsewhere are around 30k per year - or about the same cost as getting a 'personality' to present around an hour of TV. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

Bill There are only two brands for Freesat boxes - Humax and Alba and I don't believe Humax do a SD box. There are other free to air boxes that are not Freesat branded. I believe all the Alba SD boxes are electronically/software identical with the only difference being the badge and perhaps the price. Similarly the Alba HD boxes are just re-badged identical units. Alba = Bush, Grundig and Goodmans For SD boxes go for the cheapest. For HD boxes either go for the Humax or the cheapest Alba product. Bush, Goodmans and Grundig have the .pdf manuals on their (uk) web sites. All 3 SD manuals (links below) have the same date stamp printed in the documents and the time stamps differ by 15 minutes! http://www.bushdigital.co.uk/downloa...IB_Rev1-140308 http://www.goodmans.co.uk/content/ug/GFSAT100SD.pdf?language=en-GB http://www.grundig.co.uk/content/ug/GUFSAT01SD.pdf?language=en-GB The Humax HD manual can be downloaded from http://www.humaxdigital.com/freesat/support.asp -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |
