It is reported elsewhere that Humax will be releasing a fix for their
lip sync problem within the next three weeks.

That was reported on a web site that said there were no problems with
regional channels on Freesat and the Freesat PVR should be available in
the shops now.

There is nothing on the Humax site saying what will be fixed and when.

It wasn't reported by the website - it was provided by someone
contributing to the forum on the website. See also this from the
digispy forum regarding an update on the sync fix, and news of the PVR:

It's exactly the same information provided by someone linking to the web
site notorious for misinformation. The link given doesn't give any
information on the PVR.

Again just someone speculating that there may be some news and as it
hasn't been posted it hasn't happened.

Humax are slow to put info on their site - info about the last software
update only appeared on their website a week or so AFTER the event.

Humax posted the information on the last OTA upgrade on the Friday
before the update on the Monday morning.

Incidentally, the Freesat regional channels problem has been fixed.

So does you box show all the available ITV regions?

Ditto the FoxSat "soft picture" issue.

The Humax representative stated that nothing had been done to fix the
poor picture quality. What they did do was to give more options on the
HDMI interface which for some people means that the TV does the
up-scaling rather than the Humax box.

Yes, I noticed the missing bolt. What I've done is put the two bolts
on the wall fixing and the one bolt on the back of the dish where the
tilt gauge is.

What the chuff is that little spirit level for?

Bill

It doesn't work anyway. You think you've got it level but then touch the
spirit level and it moves around on the cheap bit of plastic, so you might
as well not bother with it. Rubbish.

But in any case it doesn't matter whether the dish is exactly level, as long
as you set polarization offset.

Is that the adjustable thing on the LNB labeled 1-5? If the dish is
dead level, what should it be set on?

Yes its the LNB skew. You really need to measure the bit error rate to set
this correctly.

But if you're in the middle of the UK it's going to be on '3'. The main
thing is that you fix it firmly in position using a product such as 'No More
Nails'.

;-P

What about dish position on my property. I am surrounded by a lot of
trees. How high do the trees have to be before they interfere with
reception? My dish can't go very high (only above downstairs window)
unless the bloke living upstairs is OK with it.

It depends how close they are. Remember all that 'boring' trigonometry at
school? Now you've found a practical use for it. Wish you'd paid more
attention?

I think the sats are 24-26° above the horizon in the UK.

Marky, that's about THIS angle, where I'm pointing.
