In an idle moment I've put a miscellany of pics onto Photobucket, in the
hope that some of them might provoke discussion. All comments welcome.

The album is 'June 2008' but that should come up automatically. I don't mind
you looking at my other albums, even the very very rude one.

Is your iron tower one of the ones at Hullavington for parachute
training?

No. It's nothing of that kind.

Is it part of the pit head machinery at the Yorkshire Mining Museum?

I believe it's the top of a support tower. Located in Cumbria, at an HF
broadcasting Station !
You can see the halyards and sheeves for the two curtain arrays and their
respective reflectors.

Aha!

It was the ladders 'going nowhere' that floored me (but not from that
height!).

The only comment I have is that whil;e i agree with your sentiments re
the installer and the customer wrt the National Park pic, the fact
that it is in a National Park doesn't really make any difference - it
would be ****e wherever it was.

My question is - What building in Chester was the odd aerial
installed? may give a clue as to its purpose.

It certainly would, but where the environment is generally attractive these
things do cause more offence.

It was on the roof of a department store near the wall.

(Not sure if that will work).

I think the store is T J Hughes and that particular building complex also
housed Chester's Gateway Theatre until January 2007 (that may be the link),
and if I'm correct across the road is the Chester Crowne Plaza Hotel and
short stay car park underneath.

I think they may have been BBC local radio OB link antennas, from when
they used to use 216 and 222MHz. Maybe they did regular stuff from the
site so it was worthwhile putting up some antennas ?
