How do I stop my Sony HDD/DVD recorder updating?
My Sony RDR-HXD970 is bloody annoying me. Everytime it updates, it
deletes the timer list. The only way round it is when timing a programme, set EPG link to 'off', which is time consuming especially if you have several programmes to record, and it won't change if the programme times change. I have set to Sony to 'no updates' but it still does it, around 3 times a day! Is it faulty? Marky P. |

How did you find what firmware version you had, and how do you download more? On the remote, press this little lot: System Menu Initial Set up Options Software Update Technical Info. This gets you the software version (should be 125 or higher). Next, try this: System Menu Initial Set up Audio Out Dolby Digital Output '9'. This gets you the firmware version (should be 1.63 or higher). To download the latest firmware upgrade, you need to burn a CD of it. Instructions on where to find the download and how to use it can be found over at AV Forums, somewhere in the DVD recorder forum. Marky P. |
