The fact is that many of the second tier brands (Vizio, Westinghouse, etc)

to fix them after the warranty expires, even if only a minor repair is
needed.

Yep, this wasn't about replacing a display...my servicer said it
needed a new circuit board and they ran into a brick wall getting one.
My set, btw, was made in Thailand. The good thing is that prices have
dropped to where I will probably end up with a better set; however, I
have to balance that against several weeks of hearing my wife complain
about not having an HDTV in the bedroom! :-)

Yes there is. But it is just the business of nuclear power generating plants.
That's the only genuine Westinghouse that exists anymore.

| Any product sold under that name is a rip-off trying to capitalize on a

Or worse, you might be stuck having to pay a disposal fee. Avoid them.

Wow . . . I NEVER would have guessed that "Dave" was an Asian name.

It still is, if you're in the market for a nuclear power plant,
satellite components or advanced military weapons, Westinghouse is
still a major player.

However, they've been very careless lately about licensing their name
when it comes to consumer electronics products. It galls me sometimes
when I see what George Westinghouse's name gets associated with. It
really tarnishes his legacy.

How's that? It would be "Dave" who would be making such complaints (regarding
the cheap brands and non-existant support from them).

IMHO, we should have a law that allows the actual trademark owner to be
liable for poor quality products produced under their name with their
permission.

Yes, I don't imagine his friend Tesla would like it very muck.

The funny thing is my wife balked at the idea of buying it in the
first place when she saw the "made in Thailand" imprint. And she was
made in Thailand as well! :-)
