HDMI picture resetting?

I had never noticed it before, but my brother watching TV with me today
noticed that every so often the picture blinks out for a split second
and refreshes. I still haven't seen it, but he said that it was
happening both with my DirecTV box and my HD upconverting DVD player.
He thought it might have been the cable, but it's two different cables
that I've been switching at the TV (until I invest in a switcher box).
Is this a common HDMI occurance? If not, is it likely a problem with my
TV, since it was happening with two different sources and cables?

See what happens with component. I gave up on HDMI.

When you switch the source connections, are the units first turned off ?

I have had zero issues with HDMI. Note that both the tv and the BD
player are Panasonic, so being from the same co. might help improve the
video integration.

If that is true, it points out a more serious problem in not
conforming to the specs. I hope that is not the reason for your
success.

I don't know about that problem but every time I switched from a 720p to
1080i or 420p channel through my Motorola Cable box, my screen would go
blank, like it had to reset every time. I switched to component and have
never had the problem, and I see no difference in the picture.

No. It's still doing it, both with the DVD player in HDMI and the
directv through component. We both eventually noticed that it was only
doing it when the signal was 1080i, so I'm assuming it's just my set
doesnt support it.
