Not never but probably not for a few months. Freesat PVRs will be a low
volume items to start with so it seems realistic to expect that prices
will start as high as they can tolerate.

An FTV/FTA package has always been available from Sky, since the
launch of Sky Digital in October 1998. However it was 299 or perhaps
even 399 Quid back then ?

It was only ?100 for a while a few years back.

It's currently only £75 from a few retailers (such as Argos) - and
includes 3 months "trial" subscription to 4 Sky "Mixes"

It's worth paying that much just to get the dish installed. I'm assuming
they don't rip it out again if you cancel?

That wasn't the alternative - as, even with a CAM, European receivers just
do *NOT* offer the EPG/interactive/digital text features that the BBC wanted!

What features did the BBC want? It's still secret AIUI, but I really doubt
that there's anything that Service Information, Event Information Tables and
MHEG could not have delivered - except maybe compatibility with the Sky box
system... so is the BBC nobbling free competition in order to restrict choice
to products of a market dominator that they've let in through a mix of BBC
incompetence and government errors? Where have I heard that before? iPlayer!

Fuming gently,
