Looking for a DVD player with hard disk and LAN access
Hello.
I'm looking for a DVD player with an internal hard disk of some hundreds of gigabyte (320-750GB) accessible via LAN/Ethernet. Even better if the access to the hard disk is possible also via USB 2.0 and if the player can read USB keys and the other various cards. Do you have any suggestion? I found the Noontec GV3621 [http://www.noontec.com/en/client/ ProductView.asp?id=83] that meets my requirements. On ebay, I found also an enhanced version named GV3661. My only worry is that the brand is unknown and I cannot find any useful user review about its reliability. Thank you Bests |

Chipped X-Box with a bigger hard drive fitted and one of the Microsoft DVD remotes......? I use one as a media player (and am watching Lost on it as I type this) and copy files on and off it across my network. They can be picked up second hand for quite civilised prices , though I'm not sure what the biggest hard drive they will take is. -- Alex "I laugh in the face of danger , then I hide until it goes away" |

Although you don't need to chip it to run XBMC of course, you can do the "softmod" software hack instead. I could be wrong , but that's relatively straightforward to do with the standard hard drive and much tricker if you want to replace the drive with something bigger? Anyway , there are lots of them available second hand that have already been done so that's even easier :0) -- Alex "I laugh in the face of danger , then I hide until it goes away" |

Would that be the older X-box or the newer 360 version? -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

I think what you want is called a "computer". They come in various sixes and prices, and can easily be configured to your requirements. |
