So that "Television Engineers bbs" has done it again. Spammed this group
with a load of stuff from last year. I suspect that it's actually one of
those email-harvesting sites that ask people to sign up to a "community"
-- and that it has a "bulletin board system" that appears to be
well-subscribed but is actually a disguised gateway to the Usenet system.
It wouldn't be so bad if this guy could do it without screwing up his
software.

Same IP address as before in all the posts (82.32.147.215) which is a
Viginmedia broadband connection.

The site is still up at midday Wednesday at:
http://82.32.147.215
or
http://www.tvengineers.tzo.com

Ho hum. I'll put another complaint into Virginmedia.

Does seem very strange. Luckily I'm only seeing the replies, not the
originals, which is in one way good, but in another way bad, as I cannot
tell if the originals were old or not!

I'm fairly sure it wasn't deliberate. Last night, he sent ~300 posts
that were copies of posts that had been sent one year ago by people in
this group, but with a recent date stamp added. I'm guessing that he's
trying to set up a web based gateway to this group and messed it up. He
did the same thing about six weeks ago, so he doesn't seem to learn too
quickly from his mistakes.

It was at least three groups that I saw, all TV related, and much more than
300 in total.

When the number of messages being downloaded by my newsreader got past two
thousand and still rising I decided it was a good time to make some coffee,
so I don't know the exact number it eventually reached. After it had stopped,
the total number of new mesages indicated was a mere 800 or thereabouts, so
maybe some of them were duplicates.

Rod.

I'm also not aware of any of these extra posts appearing via my NIN

Likewise, but if it's some moron from last year, then my filter is probably
still in place.
