Humax questions
Received my first Humax 9200TB/320G on Tuesday. It practically set itself up
and all seems good but one complaint and two questions. Complaint: Press instant record as a programme starts and if it has started a bit early it assumes that you are recording the programme that just ended and only records for a minute. Question 1: Can I make the display on the front panel brighter? Question 2: How do you open the flipping flap for the cam card? Derek. |

I haven't noticed this. I usually set up recordings in the EPG. With a VCR you press the record button and it records until you tell it to stop. Question 1: Can I make the display on the front panel brighter? No. Shame it is rather faint. Question 2: How do you open the flipping flap for the cam card? Pull it down from the RHS. Complaint: Press instant record as a programme starts and if it has
started a bit early it assumes that you are recording the programme that just ended and only records for a minute. When it is recording, press the Record button again. It pops up a window showing you its planned stop time. If it's wrong, you can alter it (in ten minute steps, I think) using the up arrow button. Of course, it isn't ideal that you should have to do that. I suppose the algorithm to stop recording automatically has to decide when to stop, and "the end of the current programme" seems reasonable. It gets caught out in the circumstances you describe. It happens quite rarely, in my experience, but I pretty well always press Record a second time, just to check when it intends to stop. SteveT |

Shame it is rather faint. I hope you won't take offence but have you removed the protective film from the display? -- Robin |

If yes, you could just wait until after the official start time before pressing record. -- Mark Myers usenet at mcm2007 dot plus dot com I call that a radical interpretation of the text. |

Does the Hummy allow you to commit the current contents of the buffer to
a recording? If yes, you could just wait until after the official start time before pressing record. Indeed it does, although it is slightly clumsy. You have to rewind over the material to the point where you want to start recording, and then press record. Then you can fast forward to the end of the buffer and carry on watching in real time.
