this is how HD-DVD shall go down!!!
The clock in town square struck 12 at midnight, the townspeople
gathered around the old wooden gallows. This was a sight seen not too often in this mostly peaceful place. Whisperings and murmuring were uttered by all those gathered around. The sheriff stood with his hand to the square, slowly lowered his hand, and after everyone quickly fell silent, in a solemn voice spoke, "Let the deed be done." The man in the dark cloak off to the side began a short eulogy, "We gather here today to witness the demise of the HD-DVD player, may this be a forgotten technology, forever bound to darkness, never to be spoken of again" Everyone standing around made a promise to themselves to never speak of this wicked technology again, to ensure their children's children never had to deal with this forevermore. Suddenly, a woman in the back of the crowd shouted "SAVE HD-DVD". She could only cry in despair. Everyone suddenly turned to stare at her in disbelief. The HD- DVD player carefully placed in the noose belonged to her, and was the last remaining player in the town. All others had been burned at the stake. The iron-clad soldiers held her back, and a smile lit up on her face as she was handed a box containing a Blu-Ray player. The sheriff nodded his head, and the HD-DVD player dropped down. The drive on the player opened up, and an HD-DVD disk which had lost its luster, spun out and shattered. The LED display dimmed, and soon fell dark, never to be lit up again. A final, bright blue electric spark flashed from within, and thick black smoke belched from the vents. It was done. The woman who lost her player said "Let HD-DVD never be uttered out from the mouth again." Everyone nodded at each other in agreement. It was a sad day, but it was to be forgotten. |
