iTunes High Def

Apple just opened iTunes for high def download rental and buying of films.
Could anybody tell me about the available formats and prices? I cannot se
the films on the US iTunes Store. They kick me back to the danish iTunes
Store. The film option has not arrived here yet.
Is it comparable to the other high def formats?

It is 720p with Dolby 5.1 sound. Supposedly about 100 movies now, with
all the studios signed onboard.

Sounds good. Thank You LP. One more thing. Have someone tried it? I asume
..mov in H.264. What are the bitrates? My guess would be 8-9000
kilobits/sec.;-) Or maybe less?

The iTunes downloads are NOT hi-Def. They are 640x480.

Hi Def downloads from iTunes will ONLY be playable on the toy AppleTV and
will NOT be transferrable into your iTunes library to watch elsewhere. This
also means that they will be the low end Hi-Def 1280x720.
Don't believe the turtleneck shrouded hype.

It will be 720p with DD 5.1 just like Apple said it would be.

If that isn't good enough for you, don't buy an AppleTV nor rent from
them and both you and Apple will mostly likely be tickled to death.

Did I say any different?

Apple has conviently left out the info that if you want to watch their HD
downloads, you must buy the AppleTV and access iTunes thru it. They have
everyone thinking you use normal iTunes, dload a hi-def movie as usual and
watch it on your computer.

My apologies if sharing this info has touched a nerve of yours.

I had read about this in numerous forums that said that what is
described is what happens, so I assumed Apple had said so.

No apology needed, if any I should apologize for 'assuming' anything!
