"Malcolm H" wrote in message ... No mention of increased functionality. I have recently moved to skyhd. Sky+ and the epg are terrible. I use my tivo to schedule all the shows, and use it as i did before. Whenever a hd channel is recorded i have a record signal sent to the skyhd box to make sure it is recorded in hd. Slightly clumsy, but sky+ functionality is laughable. Gaz Absolute bullsh*t Of course it is. I have both systems, why would i lie? Now with HD, i would love to be able to dump tivo, but sky+ makes me blush, how basic and unsophisticated it is. Gaz |

My original intention was to replace my TiVo with Sky HD, but I just couldn't bring myself to be without the TiVo functionality. I only watch/record HD stuff on my Sky HD or if there's a non-repeated clash that TiVo can't cope with. Malcolm H, I presume you've never used a TiVo? Had I not, and only had experience of Sky+, I'd probably go along with the people that think it's the best thing since sliced bread, unfortunately I didn't so, even after all these years I still find the Sky+ software woefully inadequate. -- Sean Black |

I have never used a TiVo - but I do find that the Sky+ functionality works well and reliably (most of the time). It does just about everything that I would expect - but no doubt it could be further improved! I would like: Smaller print to get more on a page A 'Back' facility to view the previously selected channel Programme information available without having to select the actual channel Less cumbersome 'Search' funtionality |

Why Sky+ can't take some pointers (without infringing copyright) from the Tivo interface is beyond me. It's not the technology (my Tivo is over six years old) it's the skill of the EPG designer and programmer. The design appears to have been done by a six year old. |

Broadcasters keep saying they can't make it optional, but they can certainly simulcast the alternative version on 'press red', so if it's primetime then deaf people can have a signed version and if it's middle of the night then vice versa, but no they don't. What's most telling is when I've read from deaf people on here in the past who've said that they find the signing just gets in the way and that they use the subtitles anyway. |

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought why restrict the new EPG only to the Sky HD boxes and not all Sky boxes? And then I remembered - to make the cheaper alternative less palatable. They degraded the Sky analogue signal on purpose prior to the switchover to hasten its demise. |
