Are there any blu-ray only players (no SD DVD support)?
Wouldn't that make them cheaper to produce. So there's only one laser
necessary. I've got my facts straight don't I? The blu-ray players have to have an additional red laser to play standard dvds? -- "be more constructive with your feedback, please." Steve --Inglo-- |

Part of the spec calls for SD support. No SD support, no 'Blu-Ray' logo on the front. But with the stuff coming out of China these days, who knows... A_C |

If HD DVD is dying and they want me to purchase a Blu Ray player. One that just plays Blu Ray discs and is a little cheaper would make a lot of sense. -- "be more constructive with your feedback, please." Steve --Inglo-- |

Especially when you consider a whole SD player can cost as little as $30 US. A_C |

Daytek are supposed to be bringing one to the Canadian market for between $199 to $299 later this year also. Removing DVD playback would be disastrous. The whole idea of a Blu-ray player is that you can still use your DVD collection and in most cases upscale it too. |
