Is there anyway to make a blu-ray dvd without converting it to mpg4?

I been making hd-dvds from tivo files. but if blu-ray wins. I will have
to make blu-ray dvds from tivo files:( the blu-ray software(nero 8) I
tried has to convert it to mpg 4. And that takes hours. Hd-dvd just uses
the hd mpeg 2 file. so thies no converting needed.

And that's why the rivalry is'nt over.;-)
AVCHD and Blu-Ray takes forever and ever to encode thanks to the AVCHD
format I think.
But why bother? Your HD-DVD is as good as new and You can buy all that You
want.
**** Warner! They can stick their "300". Give me Paramount "Babel" instead
and Dreamworks "Shrek".;-)

If You are about to convert to "Blu-Ray" The demand is Seperate Duo Zeon
processor machine!
Do You still thimk they have won?;-)))

I made both a blu-ray dvd and a hd-dvd from tivo hd files before i
bought my hd-a3 hd-dvd player. the blu-ray took 10 hours to make a 30
min disc. hd-dvd took 30 min including burning the dvd. That made up my
mind to get the hd-dvd player instead of blu-ray.

All this because you have a tivo that stores in the old mpeg 2 format?

yes it does. HDTV is Mpeg 2. Cable hdtv is mpeg 2 and ota hdtv is mpeg
2. I dont want to waste 10 hours to convert mpeg 2 to blu-ray. When
hd-dvd does not need to convert mpeg 2 to mpeg 4.

If it were faster to make a blu-ray dvds i would of bought a blu-ray player.

tivo hd does have a mpeg 4 decoder in it.

Here's an idea, just stop doing it! If you must archive your
TiVo files, do it as MPEG2 HD, the format it is most likely
already in. If the files need cut-edits, use VideoReDo and save
the output to HDD.

I've literally hundreds of HDTV captures saved this way from PC
captures, with nowhere near the effort you're putting into even
HD-DVD copies. OK, you've got an HD player, but is that really
the only way you can get your HD pictures on to your TV? I've
got an HD/BR player too, NONE of my HDTV captures has ever seen
its laser.

I do that to sometimes. I also use video redo. I can save them to dvd as
mpegs and then upload them back to my tivo to watch them. But its so
much easier just to play them on my hd-dvd player.

I guess i can save the mpegs and make the hd-dvds

I sure wont buy a blu-ray player till price gets to around 200.00

and theres not many movies i can watch more then once so i use netflix.
