Downloading Dr. Who with iPlayer
 

Currently downloading the xmas Dr. Who as my DVD-R decided it didn't
want to record it. This is my first experience with the iPlayer, and
it's taking ages to download. Another 5 hours to go...

Why not just record the repeat? Next Tuesday 2:15pm BBC1

Thanks for that. I expected that it would be repeated, but didn't
know if I already missed it. It's downloaded now, so I might watch it
as there's bugger all on telly today.

Its now he finds the lip sync is out, or the picture breaks up or maybe
even it won't play at all.

Admittedly the software is rubbish as I don't think its blind person
friendly last time I looked at it.

Max of 2meg, but in reality around 1.2meg. Just watched it all with
no problems at all. I have 6 days left if I want to watch it again.
Would it actually be possible to record the output using the S-video
out of my video card to DVD or have the BBC stopped that happening?

Did you know their is a streaming verson of the iPlayer so you don't
have to wait for programmes to download?

It's probably the speed of the streaming download that causes the freezing,
not your PC. Perhaps you should try pausing the playback for a few minutes
to allow the streaming to catch up with it.
