8" LCD
I need an 8" or thereabouts LCD screen or TV set. It needs to either be 4:3
or capable of switching to 4:3. The presence of a tuner is not important either way, as long as it accepts composite PAL. Ideas anyone? Bill |

I was looking for 6" 4:3 recently but everyone seems to have moved over to widescreen. CPC has some offers, will 7" ws do?: Code AV1487105 7" ws, 4:3 switchable, analogue tuner + composite 48quid + vat I'm sure there was one with a digital tuner built in too at around 60quid + vat but I can't find it ATM. Offers end 11th Jan. http://cpc.farnell.com/ -- fred Plusnet - I hope you like vanilla |

It seems to be the same with those little "electronic photo frame" things that give a continuous slide show of your digital photos. I have yet to see one that isn't widescreen, and yet nearly all digital cameras are 4:3. It's as if nobody who makes things talks to anybody else any more. Rod. |

Ahh, why didn't I think of Maplins and CPC? There are quite a few to choose from! Bill |

I've got this one:- http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...2001&doy=24m12 used mainly as a monitor for composite 16:9 stuff and it's not bad at all - especially at the price. -- *Great groups from little icons grow * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Many can accept external video input, have (usually) a 7" screen (OK, you'll need your glasses) and come in at ubder a ton. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

Ideas anyone? Kitchen suppliers. Someone who has had a new kitchen recently - several kitchen suppliers put these in as freebies. Or Ebay where such are sold. I recently bought an "under your kitchen worktop" LCD screen for use in my workshop. I paid £30, unused, from someone who had a new kitchen. I use it with a small TV camera to give closeups on the lathe. I find it easier to see what's happening when a 5mm diameter component requiring a 0.3mm hole fills most of the screen :-) Mine takes PAL in both Composite (single phono) and S-Video (small diameter 4 pin). Also has analogue FM and UHF tuners. Picture can be flipped top/bottom so mounting can be either way up. Came with a remote control, various leads, and a power transformer brick. -- Nigel Cliffe, Webmaster at http://www.2mm.org.uk/ |
