So THAT'S what it's supposed to sound like...

Ever since I bought my Samsung LCD back in the summer, I've just used
the TV speakers. I knew a good sound system would be better, but I just
had not taken the time or funds to do anything about it.

Well, the DW, being at a loss for a Christmas gift this year, suggested
I put in the sound system I had been talking about.

I did a lot of research on AVS Forums, and decided against a HTIB
solution. But I didn't want or need to go nuts either. I wanted
micro-sized satellites. A 5.1 system was enough for my smallish room
(15x15).

I ended up with an Onkyo 605 receiver and an HSU speaker system based
on the VT-12 Ventriloquist speakers and the STF-1 sub.

I watched LotRings Return of the King last night after finishing
everything up. Wow. What a difference.

The Ventriloquist technology really does sound great, if you're looking
for a micro-sized speaker solution. I had not found a negative review
on AVS, and now I know why.

And the Onkyo receiver has been a joy to work with. Some of the others
I looked at, such as Denon, did not pass through stuff on the HDMI side
very well. This Onkyo will pass through audio as well as video, and
will upconvert any of the component inputs to the HDMI output. The
menus and layout as well as the remote are well done. And I really
like the Audyssey calibration system.

The audyssey calibration system is very nice.
Congrats on getting your surround system and researching it first -
Hsu make good products.
Aren't you kicking yourself for waiting so long?
