Is it working for other people? It worked for me okay yesterday with only a little bit of buffering going on, but today it seems to be buffering for 30 seconds, plays for 3 or 4 seconds and goes back to buffering again. It then stops altogether saying "Something went wrong ... please try again." -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info |

I think my problem might be Firefox-related, because I've just tried watching it in IE and although there was a period when it was constantly buffering, it has started playing smoothly now, whereas trying to watch the same programme via Firefox it's just constantly buffering. Also noticed that the volume control goes to 11, obviously a Spinal Tap fan in the development team :-) Yep. I wish there was a way to turn the bit rates up... -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info |

It's working okay in Firefox as well now. There was nothing wrong with my broadband connection, because I tried to download iTunes (which has a fast server) and my download manager was saying it was downloading at about 8 Mbps. Have you set your proxy server in IE and not FF? The flash player is working fine for me in FF, but then I am on the end of a JANET connection squirting 6+ proper megabytes per second. I have upgraded the versio of Flash via IE this afternoon so that I could view in full-screen - could that have any effect? As you're on JANET, can you receive the multicast streams: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/streams.html or http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/radio/channels.shtml -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info |

Just watched a whole hour of programme. Not tried Firefox. However, pixelly output at full screen caused me to flick back to small screen for some of it. - Nigel -- Nigel Cliffe, Webmaster at http://www.2mm.org.uk/ |

I haven't changed any settings. I have upgraded the versio of Flash via IE this afternoon so that I could view in full-screen - could that have any effect? Perhaps the new version is set to use more ram for caching, I don't know. You are using Virgin Media? They have consolidated all their local proxy servers into one (or at least one address), so it might be worth checking your settings in both FF and IE. I found that out the other day on this site; http://ben.cheetham.me.uk/resources/net/ntl-proxy-list he has some useful stuff on there. The flash player is working fine for me in FF, but then I am on the end of a JANET connection squirting 6+ proper megabytes per second. 48 Mbps+? Not bad! As you're on JANET, can you receive the multicast streams: http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/streams.html or http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/radio/channels.shtml No, they've never worked for me. I don't think it would be right to ask our IT dept to sort it out either. -- DavidM www.djmorgan.org.uk |
