Sony WEGA Screen Issues
I own a Sony WEGA 42" LCD tv and it's about 3 yrs old. When I'm
watching it and there's say, I light back ground scene, I can see 2-3 dark patches on the screen. At first I thought the screen needed to be cleaned, but that didn't help. When I got close to the screen I could see they were a purplish color to them. They're kinda fuzzy and won't go away. My first thought is that this is caused by dust on the mirrors or lens. But after some internet searching I found that maybe this is a bigger problem. Can someone here please let me know if they've had a similar issue and how it was resolved? TIA JaKe Seattle |

Have an authorized servicer come out and eveluate the problem. At least post
the complete model number, and serial number so someone may point you to other information. Cheers wrote in message ... I own a Sony WEGA 42" LCD tv and it's about 3 yrs old. Sounds like a common LCD bruise. Google for a description, but they all point to not much hope. (Short of Sony repair) wrote in message ... I own a Sony WEGA 42" LCD tv and it's about 3 yrs old. Should we presume this is a RPTV using LCD Technologies? Post Model number
please. You may be experiencing problems with the Optics Block, however, without you supplying the model number we can continue asking if the bruse effect hurt when initial effect started. Trying to assist but will resist any further guessing. "Jim" jimmy AT hotmail.com wrote in message ... wrote in message ... AFAIK bruises are a form of dead pixels in a group. I have read of people stripping their LCDs and massaging the screen to reveive bruises, but reading on the web is the extent of my knowledge there. I hope I am wrong, but my understanding has always been bruises=unfixable by average consumer. Good luck with it, Jim |

Seen a few of these with defects witin the Optics Block causing
discolouration on the screen, ocassionally termed "Road Mapping". Will need to have a tech come out and eveluate the distortion and supply you with an extimate of repairs. However, if you have an extended warrenty then please exercise it's use. Additional, if you have not changed the lamp within the last few years it may be a good place to start. Lamp # A-1606-034-B (Use Original SONY) Optics Block # A-1084-658-A Good Luck. "Jim" jimmy AT hotmail.com wrote in message ... wrote in message ... I think it's a bruise. ;) Disclaimer: I have never seen or dealt with these on a scale that grand or magnificent, but I have had to work with plenty of LCD TV's 20"& less and regular LCD monitors that had more than their fair share of what I thhnk you are describing. There is one to my right, right now. What I am describing looks just like a human bruise. Irregular shape of blackish color that you can still somewhat see thru and is more prevelant on light backgrounds. I gave up googling for a fix I could handle. good luck again Jim |
