Thursday 6th December 2007

Following a detailed analysis of trading history and continuing
year-on-year losses, it has been decided that Nebula Electronics Ltd
is to be wound-up as a trading company.

The Nebula Electronics brand however, is to continue as a trading name
of Nebula Media Solutions Ltd.

Nebula Media Solutions Ltd specialises in the provision of Media
distribution for home and business and will take on the role of
primary distributor for the DigiTV range of products. For existing and
future customers, the transition should have little impact other than
a short delay followed by an improvement in the provision of support
and sales communication when compared to the recent level of service.

Nebula Media Solutions Ltd takes very seriously its responsibility to
maintain good customer relations, so all orders placed on the Nebula
Electronics website have been, and will continue to be, honoured by
Nebula Media Solutions Ltd. After-sales care as well as all warranties
and repairs to existing equipment will also be honoured for the
lifetime of the product range.

Nebula Media Solutions Ltd also plans to expand and improve existing
product ranges as part of its own product portfolio where Nebula
Electronics Ltd is now no-longer able to fulfil its future plans.

The current web-site and email servers are in the process of being
relocated, so there may be interruptions in availablilty over the next
week or so. However, our best efforts are being made to maintain
service over the transition time.

I have to say that I gave up on Nebula ages ago. I now use MythTV which
is much more stable. Also multiple recordings from one multiplex is
coming as a future release which was one of Nebula main selling points.
Also IP multicast is another feature that is coming (not sure when
though).

The other things was that for each client you would be using a Windows
licence if you were being a good boy and paying for it.

These days it's Linux with everything for me for a whole load of reasons.

Cheers,

Rob.

Actually if you would like some help in getting MythTV working (because
the Nebula card is suported in Linux now) then I can offer you some
advce. Have you ever set up a Linux box? Cheaper than all those
Windows licences!

Rob.

They were far too damning when I enquired about BDA drivers for their card a
few years ago, seemed to think they would rule the world going their own
sweet way, apparently not.

If you want to use IPTV with the Nebulka software then you have to run
the webserver on the Nebula box as far as I know.

If you want more stable streaming then I do recommend MythTV. It should
work out of the box with your USB version, with a recent Kernel. I
assume you current Linux box is a file server? You could do both on one
box (if it's man enough mind).

Rob.

Actually as a follow up and a clarification, it does'nt do Multicast IP
or recording multiple programmes from one Mux, although both of these
are on the to do list. Multiple recs from one Mux will arrive first as
there is a 6000 Euro bounty on it.

Mythtv is fine but I don't like it's interface much or that there isn't
a mouse menu for changing channels & settings, and I spend most time in
windows anyway.

The Digitv app has also usually been stable/bugfree enough for me
anyway. The reason I wanted 3.7.12 was for the cpu fix but 3.7.11 seems
to have fixed the issue for me.

Fair enough. Mind you can have a load of different front end skins. in
fact you can make it a spit of Windows MCE if you're really that that
way inclined.

Cheers,

Rob.
