KDF 70XBR950 or KDF 60XBR950 pedestal question

All,

I recently purchased on of these televisions. When through about 2
months of painful ruminations trying to justify the cost. Eventually
I decided that spending this much money on a TV couldn't be
justified, but decided that enough justification was I wanted
it. Anyway, I am very pleased with the purchase – TV is excellent.
If there is interested I'll drop my experience to the board.

Anyway – I have on thing I can't figure out and would really
appreciate help on. I am building a custom wall unit for the TV.
Problem is that the TV's built in pedestal has a toe kick that stick
out about 2.5" from the front of the TV screen. This means I can not
put it into the wall unit and have the screen flush with the wall unit
front edges because the toe kick will hang over.

I have looked at the installation guide for the Sony stand that is
designed for the TV and it shows that the toe kick can be retracted.
I can tell by physical examination of the pedestal that this is the
case, but it appears there is a locking mechanism or something that
keeps is in place. I can find the locking mechanism, or figure out
how to disengage it so that I can slide it back.

If there is anyone who has experienced this or knows how this works,
please let me know.

Thanks

I bought the 70 and the stand that was made for it. The reason that I
purchased the stand is that it locks the tv into the stand. I was going
to buy a less expensive stand, but it didnt lock the tv. The tv would
just sit on top of the stand. I have 2 dogs and a 2 year old and I didnt
need them bumping into the television and knocking it over. Whether it
could have happened or not is something I wont have to worry about.
Anyhoo, on the stand, there are 2, 1 1/2 diameter circular locks, the tv
sets down on the locks, You just push in the the toe kick. That is what
locks the tv onto the stand. Maybe when the tv is lowered onto the stand
and the 2 circular things enter the tv, it unlocks the toe kick and you
can push it in and lock it. If you want a copy of the stand directions,
drop me a line. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I feel comfortable that the wall unit I will
have built will protect against someone knocking over the television
inadvertently since it will be closed off from both sides and the
back.

You thoughts are exactly in line with mine about the knobs the TV sits
on. They must release the locking device. Question is can I trip
these on the TV pedestal and disengage the pedestal without the Sony
stand (i.e. manually)?

If anyone has any experience here. Please let me know.

Thanks
