Where are you? Up here at latitude 45N, the face of my antenna is so
nearly vertical I've never had a problem with snow accumulation.

Or are you just coping with signal loss because of a heavy storm in your
line of sight?

Get a satellite dish heater.....I use one,and they only cost about
$70.As long as you have it active BEFORE the storm hits they work fine.
(They DON'T work well at melting existing ice and snow that pre-exists
however).

It is likely that an accumulation of snow on your dish and LNB are the
problem. If the snow around here is particularly wet, I have to wipe my
dish and LNB down. 1/2" of snow is enough to cut off reception on my 30"
dish.

I used to have DISH Network, and it never experienced snow fade, even during
heavy accumulations (6+ inches). It was pretty wimpy when it came to
rainstorms, though.

Anyone know how well the DIRECTV Slimline 5-LNB HD dish holds up under heavy
snow or rain?

Directv just upgraded us with a 5 lnb hd dish. The installer
confidently said that we wouldn't be troubled by rainouts anymore.
Next day we had rain, and we had rainouts as before. He said that we
were getting over 90 out of a possible 100 on the signal strength
meter when he aligned the dish.

With my single LNB, 30" dish I see signal strengths from the mid '80s to
the upper '90s. Rain outs are rare, but still happen.

I never had a problem with it, and I'm in Michigan.
