Despite this being an obvious troll, I'm going to comment anyway.

If immigrants are against the Union flag, surely that undermines
their claimed desire to be British. IMO you assimilate, or you leave!

It's not as black and white as that.

There should be a good amount of willingness to accept the customs
and way of life of the country you move to , but equally there's no
necessity to abandon everything relating to where you lived before.

Agreed but the customs and rules of the host country should ne
paramount, the rest is just personal choice, not that of the nation in
which one finds oneself.

That is not the complete OED entry. Your deliberate removal of the
rest of the definition is dishonest.

"later extended to any size or adaptation of the union flag, whether used
as a jack or not, and regarded as the national ensign".

It sez here.

Using the OED to reinforce facts like this is a bad idea; the OED is
solely concerned with documenting current and historical English usage
and etymology, not whether its application is correct or not.

BTW the union jack / flag was solely commissioned to enable ships from
the new union to be identified at sea and whether it is a jack or a
flag only refers to its shape (for any flag, not just this one). The
most common mistake is actually displaying it in the wrong colours;
the blue should be the same sky-blue as the Scottish saltire. BTW
there is no reference to Wales in it as Wales was formally annexed
into England at the time.

See, you don't the monopoly on being boring....

You're aware of the difference between the Union Jack and the Union
flag? I'm sure someone will point it out.

Trolling score = 1.5/10. Must try harder.

Idiot factor 9.5/10 - see me.

Well, don't be modest, I give you 10/10 for the idiot factor.

Flying the Union Jack or indeed the Union Flag is basically saying
either "I
support Nick Griffin", "I support Ian Paisley", or "I'm Gordon Brown".
Everyone else flies the Scottish, English or Welsh flags, or the Irish
tricolour.
Round here the flag of choice for Nick Griffin supporters is the
English flag. Don't think I've ever seen a Union Flag being flown in
that context.

A bit like the Labour scum stealing England's red rose symbol.

or the Conservatives a poor old tree which was minding its own business.

But that didn't cause the embarrassment of having to explain on St
George's Day that you were English, NOT a member of the labour party!

If nothing else, the Labour Party lacked originality when it came to
symbolism.
