DAB sounds worse than FM October 27th 07 02:48 PM

MPG Trimmer application

I've written an application that tops and tails MPG files, but I've only had
it working on my machine so far, so could some people say whether it works
okay on their Windows machine please:

www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/MPGTrim.exe

If the MPG file is corrupted it won't work properly (it'll say something
like file duration = 0.0 seconds and the video bit rate will say some
stupidly high figure), but I'll sort that out in a day or two and I just
want to see whether it's working at all on other machines at the moment.
Thanks.

Just tried it on a DigiTV recording.

When I opened the app, I had to go and get MFC70.dll, which took about
30 secs.

After that it did the job beautifully.

Well done.

Okay, thanks. Did you put mfc70.dll in the same directory as the exe file is
in?

I've included mfc70.dll with mpgtrim.exe in a Zip file here if anyone wants
to try it:

After that it did the job beautifully.

That's good to hear, thanks.

If that's the case the author should switch the build to static
binding.

Ah, right, thanks. This should work okay now:

www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/MPGTrim.exe

If someone could check that it does work it'd be much appreciated.

Forgot to say that it also demultiplexes radio recordings recorded on PC
cards from MPG to MP2 so that they can be played back on normal media
players.

My cards capture either the transport stream or an MP3 file - the
latter what I thought was the native format for radio on DVB-T. Help,
please?

It goes into the Windows system folder.

The Nebula software defaults to mp2.

Be careful though, it's safest to place a local copy in the same folder
as the .EXE if you're not doing a check for required .DLLs
already-existing (or over-writing without a version comparison) rather
than just "plonking" extra files in the system folder.

The dvb-t stream is mpeg2 which is compatible with the mp3
specification. His app probably just names the stream mp3 instead of mp2.
