Problems with Fall Update?

My Tivo did the Fall Update this morning, and now several of my
upcoming episodes on the To Do List have mysteriously disappeared.
The series in question are still a part of my Season Pass List, but
individual episodes have been dropped. No explanation is given for
the potential conflicts.

Anyone else having this problem?

Give it some time. It is a major update and the DB is restructured,
so it has to re-parse and re-build the TDL.

Not me.

The software update finally has something I've wanted for a long time.

My Wishlist: Anderson, Gillian AND NOT The X-Files.
My wife's wishlist: the corresponding, plus
Johnson, Don AND NOT Miami Vice AND NOT Nash Bridges.

Hurray!

I haven't gotten the update yet, but this sounds great! My wishlist for
Doctor Who keeps recording the same Good Times episode about once a
month. Not any more! (hopefully)

I died a little thanks to this post. Not trimmed at all, so everyone with
a brain can easily see why.

Although the fact that it is a top poster comes as no surprise, that is
for
sure.

upgrade is nice, but still everything seems slightly slower (hopping

I wanted to explain a little more about the bizarre glitch created by
the Fall Update.

First of all, I have a Dual drive, so I can record two channels at
once. For the first few weeks of the season, there's been no
problem. This week, though, some dual recordings have been denied.

For example, it won't record "Mad Men" on Thursday at 10pm because it
conflicts with "ER," even though it had no problem doing it last week,
and even next week's To Do List is fine. But here's the goofy
part...it won't let me record "Mad Men" at ANY time over the next
week. Even if I try to record a 3:15AM showing on Tuesday, it still
denies the request, saying it conflicts with "ER" at 10pm Thursday.
Go figure.

Fortunately, everything looks fine for the upcoming weeks and all the
dual recordings are lined up as they were prior to the Fall Update.
Only this week's recordings seem to have this curse over them.

Hopefully, this goofy bug will be behind me.

I am having the same problem! For me, it won't let me record Ugly
Betty at any time without saying that it conflicts with 30 Rock and
Earl. I also have a DT and this should not be an issue. While I was
fussing with those trying to get it all to work, it told me if I
wanted to record 30 Rock/Earl/UB, I couldn't record Chuck because
Chuck conflicts with How I Met Your Mother. But Chuck and HIMYM are on
an entirely different night than 30 Rock et al.

I took UB out entirely, and the weeks ahead seem fine, so I may try to
put it back in after this week and see if it doesn't mess those other
things up again. Very annoying and confusing!

Did it say it *conflicts*, or did it say the other show would not be
recorded due to space, or would be deleted early, etc?

There are a number of different messages you can get when scheduling a
recording, not just a direct conflict. If the unit is tight on space
- including PLANNED use over the next two weeks - you may get a
warning that scheduling something else may bump a future recording due
to insufficient space, etc.

That's what these sound like to me.

Read the messages carefully.

Does a manual recording of the data/time/channel cause the problem
also? Maybe you can work around the problem using that....

In my case, I'd get one of those messages you get when programming in
a recording, stating something like "the Tivo can only record only
cable box program at a time, and the second program requested cannot
be recorded due to the conflict," even though it had done the exact
same recording the week before, and is scheduled to do the same thing
the week later. And just to make sure, I'd manually try to punch in
a recording on the "cable" channel (as opposed to the "box" channel),
and it still wouldn't accept it.

My drive has two huge drives, so space isn't a problem.

As in the case of the other poster, we were getting messages clearly
stating that recordings on Night X were conflicting with recordings on
Night Y, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Fortunately, the bottom line seems to be that this was some bizarre
glitch in the created by the Fall Update affecting only the first week
of the update and that everything seems to be back in order for the
following weeks. At least for me, that is.

I'm seeing what you describe about disk space. My question is when I'm
scheduling a new show and it says a show won't be recorded (within the
next two weeks) because I'm out of space (because of planned
recordings) will it record the show if there is space available by
that time? Or does it not record the show it canceled because of the
space issue even if there is space? I watch shows on a daily basis and
I know there'll be space available but if canceling just means
canceling without "reinstating" if space is available - that sucks!

I hope that makes sense.

I haven't run into that specific case, but it should record it if
there is space. I'm guessing you have lots of stuff set up as "keep
until I delete," and it is totaling that (predicted) space.

A couple versions back, I'd get that "are you sure? something will
be deleted early" warning every time I scheduled something. It was
very annoying, and I'm glad it became less frequent.

As I said, I don't know the specific case you are getting. But I'd
guess that it isn't canceling it, but warning you that it might
be canceled. For exactly your case, having it preemptively cancel
the schedule would be a bad user interface decision.

I really wish that had a Monday through Thursday option since Comedy
Central is really bad about marking episodes as repeat when they're
not the 11PM showing.

Yes, it regularly regenerates the To Do List.
