Problems with Fall Update?
Does a manual recording of the data/time/channel cause the problem
also? Maybe you can work around the problem using that.... |
Problems with Fall Update?

shaped the electrons to say: wanted to record 30 Rock/Earl/UB, I couldn't record Chuck because Chuck conflicts with How I Met Your Mother. But Chuck and HIMYM are on an entirely different night than 30 Rock et al. Did it say it *conflicts*, or did it say the other show would not be recorded due to space, or would be deleted early, etc? In my case, I'd get one of those messages you get when programming in a recording, stating something like "the Tivo can only record only cable box program at a time, and the second program requested cannot be recorded due to the conflict," even though it had done the exact same recording the week before, and is scheduled to do the same thing the week later. And just to make sure, I'd manually try to punch in a recording on the "cable" channel (as opposed to the "box" channel), and it still wouldn't accept it. My drive has two huge drives, so space isn't a problem. As in the case of the other poster, we were getting messages clearly stating that recordings on Night X were conflicting with recordings on Night Y, which makes no sense whatsoever. Fortunately, the bottom line seems to be that this was some bizarre glitch in the created by the Fall Update affecting only the first week of the update and that everything seems to be back in order for the following weeks. At least for me, that is. |

My question is when I'm scheduling a new show and it says a show won't be recorded (within the next two weeks) because I'm out of space (because of planned recordings) will it record the show if there is space available by that time? I haven't run into that specific case, but it should record it if there is space. I'm guessing you have lots of stuff set up as "keep until I delete," and it is totaling that (predicted) space. A couple versions back, I'd get that "are you sure? something will be deleted early" warning every time I scheduled something. It was very annoying, and I'm glad it became less frequent. Or does it not record the show it canceled because of the space issue even if there is space? I watch shows on a daily basis and I know there'll be space available but if canceling just means canceling without "reinstating" if space is available - that sucks! I hope that makes sense. As I said, I don't know the specific case you are getting. But I'd guess that it isn't canceling it, but warning you that it might be canceled. For exactly your case, having it preemptively cancel the schedule would be a bad user interface decision. -- Drew Lawson | "Look! A big distracting thing!" | -- Crow T.
