Is Virgin 1 only showing during restricted hours?

A couple of days ago I set my Toppy to record (from the EPG) the first
DS9 episode at 15:00 today. The recording is totally blank. Currently
(17:40) the EPG and 'whats on now' show 'The fresh prince of bel air'
but the video shows "We'll see you at 6pm". Is this a one-off or is
Virgin 1 not going tom start on freeview until 18:00 and if so why does
the EPG show programming throughout the whole 24 hours?

Virgin1 is 1800-0600 on Freeview. (The new Radio Times says as much.)

and if so why does
the EPG show programming throughout the whole 24 hours?

Dunno.

I've just re-scanned and I still have Sky3 - is this to be expected?

It's repeated this evening, in about 10 minutes time.

Just because the programmes are not transmitted on Freeview does not
mean they do not exist.

My mistake - Virgin1 has appeared - replacing FTN (whatever that was).

No, but if the EPG is transmitted on Freeview it should be what the
computer types call 'context sensitive'.

EPG is currently showing 24 hour programming, but it is 18:00 to 6:00 on
Freeview, as ftn was that it replaces. Apparently there was an EPG glitch
with abc1 when it launched, so expect it to be fixed soon.

ABC1 has been the same since it went 24 hour on non-freeview a year or
two back.

s/has been/was/

in case you didn't realise it was dropped last week.

I am not entirely sure what this sentence means but it seems to
support the point being made here, namely that the Freeview EPG should
reflect the position on Freeview, which may differ from the schedule
elsewhere.

So in your own terms, it is not whether the programme exists that is
important to the user but whether it is available on Freeview at the
time in question.

I didn't watch so, no I didn't realise.

Anything replacing it?

I'll try again then. ABC1 (which I am now told vanished last week) had a
24 hour entry on the EPG even though it was only on during the day for
freeview viewers.

So in your own terms, it is not whether the programme exists that is
important to the user but whether it is available on Freeview at the
time in question.

I would think we *all* know how it should work. :-)
