Actually, may I barge in here with a problem I have? I wanted my PC

when I want the same on both screens. I'm running Vista. Any ideas?

Do you want both screens to show the same content, or do you want a
large virtual desktop spread across both screens?

(note the state of the checkboxes on the settings for the second screen)

I want both screens to show the same content.

No probs.
It's something that's caught me out before :0)

What graphics card , and what outputs does it have?

Its a ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT. It has VGA, DVI & S-Video outputs. I'm
using the DVI output.

you've probably chosen extended desktop - i.e you have 2 independent
monitors.
go back into your settings and turn that off - although i must admit i
prefer it that way - i can always drag a playing video onto the tv from the
pc monitor.

I'll give it a go when I get the chance. BTW, would it be possible to
use a VGA Y-adapter to split the signal between monitor and telly? TV
does have a VGA input.

What's your comments on the quality of the picture? I am wanting to replace
my existing 19" monitor with a 26" TV but I have heard so many reports about
the picture being rubbish.

If it's an nvidia card then there should be an option under dual screens
for clone.

I used to run my PC into my 42" plasma as my main monitor using the
VGA input and the quality was pretty good. Now I use a separate
monitor so I can watch TV & use the PC :-)

Might be difficult if you have different resolutions on each screen though.

It would - assuming you can find a video mode that both monitor and TV
are happy with.

You would really need a properly buffered splitter though like:

Generally the results can be "variable" - much depends on what scaling
the TV has to do to get the PC image on screen, and also what control it
gives you over fine tuning it. The best results I ever saw were with
some of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...ternodeltdcomp

We used them in a window display for a client, and I was amazed at the
quality of the PC display. You could tweak just about every parameter,
and the image was certainly as good as some low end LCD monitors - text
was quite readable etc and no obvious visible scaling artefacts. The
results were good with either 1280x768 or 1366x768 output from the PC
even though only the latter was a precise match for the actual panel
resolution.

Failry certain I've got an IBM Lenovo with an ATI card running dual
monitors on the DVI port with different resolutions at home.

Something to check later.
