Strange, then, that RT has blazed on the front cover: "The Ultimate

buy as you will find it worthless?" :-)

It used to Charles, I can remember UHF coverage maps in there when a new
transmitter launched in the early 1970s?

and in the pre-war issues it had whole features on new transmitters. I
saw the one with all the details on Moorside Edge.

And you've made a lot more money than you would have.

Probably. The people I was at junior school with who passed the 11+ have
had a wide range of fortunes. I still see some of them, surprisingly,
and I suppose I'm about average for income. They've mostly got much
better pensions though.

Interestingly, the ones who've made serious amounts of money have done it
in ways that bear no relationship to their university courses or early
jobs.

I was trained as a teacher, and very few of my contemporaries from the
college are still teaching. Most packed it in years ago.

at my last (university) college reunion it was interesting to see the range
of things that people were doing. There was an Ambassador, a Court of
Appeal Judge and a monk, amongst others.

I went to my secondary school's reunion recently (25 years after we'd left).
There was very little correlation between what the high and low flyers then,
were doing now in terms of jobs and careers. However many who struggled at
school, were the most fulfilled and happiest at the reunion, with quite a few
now running their own businesses.

Some of the claims at reunions don't bear close scrutiny
e.g.
"Business-man" was found to be manning a tobacco kiosk
"Local Government Officer" - Parking Attendant
"Model" - ?????

On the other hand one modest still very fit looking guy said he worked
as a textile buyer for a department store when in fact he is in the SAS.
