cancelling sky hd
 

After getting HD installed last week I think I am going to have to cancel.

I was assured several times over the phone that I would be paying only £10
extra per month but now it turns out I am going to be paying £20 a month
extra bringing the monthly cost (with broadband) to £73.
I can afford that, but I simply cannot justify the cost of £20 extra and am
very loathed to pay it.

Coupled with the fact I do not even have Movies on the sub, its very bad
value for money. I should of course researched it better before subbing to
it.

So anyway really my question is, can anyone please give me good news about
the service to convince me to stay? I.E. any news on the grapevine of more
HD channels on the way? Or more HD content on the channels we do have?

Don't believe everything SKY say or send. How do they justify the £20? If
your adding the SKY HD to your current single box then you need a mirror
subscription as well as the £10. If you already have the HD Box just use
that as your main box and cancel the mirror subscription.

I re-read your previous post on this. If you already have 2 subscription
box's you could easily give the impression that you want to "add" the HD
rather than "replace" one of your current box's. That would cost an extra
£10 on top of the HD £10. Get back and tell them which of your current box's
will no longer be used when you add HD. As long as they only have 2 cards
registered and their numbers linked to box's they will only charge for one
mirror subscription.

living room with the sky+, my Dad has the footie in the kitchen and the 3rd
box (HD) is in my room. My Mum doesn't watch the footie, so only needs the
basic channels however she is the one that uses the sky+. Had it been the
footie TV that needed the sky+ it wouldn't be a problem as the living room
TV could have been slipped down to a freesat.
God I am so confused.

I dont know if im reading your post correctly and im sorry if i have but are
you saying that you are getting charged £10 per month for having Sky +
because that fee has been abolished according to Sky.

I was in a position a couple of months ago where my contract was up and i
was thinking of cancelling Sky. They offered my a refurb Sky + at no cost
and they told me they was no cost to have it as they had stopped charging
£10 per month.

If that isnt what you meant then just ignore everything i have just typed.

So your saying you'd rather have three cards working and no HD subscription?
Who pays for the channels? If you do and want HD tell your mum to cough up
for the extra mirror subscription or make do with the freesat box!

Yeah that is the preference I think, to have 3 main subs.

extra £40 per month as I am earning a little bit more, so she doesn't mind
paying it obviously, we just think its alot of money to pay. I am just
struggling to justify the cost at this moment.

Yeah the sky+ is free, but the multiroom is £10 per box extra, plus the £10
extra for HD. :-/

Probably a waste if you watching it on a small LCD in your room. Now put it
the main room connected to a nice 42 inch Full HD LCD/Plasma and then your
talking.

I would be indterested to know how you arrive at 6 pounds per month extra for Sky Movies. I just
checked on www.sky.com & it is actually 16 pounds per month extra.

wasn't expecting my subscription to go up by £19 when it ends!

OK. Never having subscribed to any of the premium channels I was surprised that it would be so
little but that explains it.
