Freeview, less hieght on ITV than BBC
Noticed the bottom of my w/s TV that the bottom of the picture as shrunk
slightly on BBC stations but on ITV stations it is 3 times as much. So I will be getting my info. out to go to service menu and adjust it. But I'm of course going to have to do a compromise. Any ideas why the difference between BBC stations and ITV stations? Do they not work to same standards? Philips Freeview, Panasonic crt TV and Emley Moor transmitter. -- Regards, David Please reply to News Group |

If material was originally shot in a format wider than 16:9, I would want to see it full-frame, ie letterboxed. Your TV probably left the factory correctly set-up, I wouldn't opt for a compromise setting if I were you. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

You are obviously not used to dealing with the public. Compared with what I get every day that was a masterpiece of clarity. Bill |

There is now a very small black band at bottom of BBC pictures, just about noticable. On ITV stations it is 3 times size and noticable. As this is there all time it is nothing to do with the occasional movie film etc. which might be transmitted in a different ratio to the now normal w/s 16x9. 2 solutions as I see it. Adjust so band removed on BBC stations, and leaving a smaller band on ITV stations. Or, adjust to remove the band on ITV stations, thus causing very slight loss of picture at bottom of BBC stations. Hope this as made my situation clearer. |

I find the set makers supply the TV s with a picture that is larger than the display size so any shrinkage in picture as the set ages does not show. If it were possible these days to see the Test Card as one did in the old days before TV went 24/7 I wonder if the circle would be round and the squares all same size and lines straight? ( Is there any station at any stange time transmitting the test card?) -- Regards, David Please reply to News Group |

Also you say that the effect is different on different channels to which I conclude the set is displaying the material as broadcast. Is the gap there on live studio camera material? -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

All BBC and ITV channels are perfectly framed on my Humax w/s LCD TV. |
