published in 1969 IIRC that reckoned the world would be in crisis from
overpopulation at least a decade ago.

The history of doom-mongering is full of such tales. I'm confident the same will
be shown to be true of AGW before long.

And how do you imagine that is going to happen? Are you confidently
predicting that atmospheric CO2 levels will spontaneously decline to
pre-industrial levels, or that the global mean temperature will mysteriously
fall or stabilise as a result of... what, exactly?

What similarly compelling scientific evidence to that for AGW was adduced in
support of any of the previous "doom-mongering tales", do you think?

Yes, and it's got sod all to do with global warming. The areas in
question have been flooding regularly for many decades.

Of course, before the area was built on, nobody really cared.
