BT Vision
Hi,
Someone in our family wants us to go down the route of BT Vision, which would mean a lot of upheaval for us, as we are not using BT Broadband. Is it really worth it - we don't have cable or Sky. Has anyone tried connecting the system up using home plug systems to the BT router? Thanks. Andrew. |

It's very expensive as you have a set up fee, then a connection fee for both the Internet and the TV side. Then you pay monthly subscriptions and for nothing more than a glorified freeview system. You would be better off with a freeview box and DVD/HD recorder. Even a Sky system for a year is a lot cheaper. After reading many horror stories from people using it, all dissatisfied with it and the expense compared to what little it offers - I wouldn't be throwing my money away. Take a look at the forums with people using BT Vision then add up the costs, but make sure you're sitting down. Your home plugs will probably not work with the router as the system isn't just based on Internet. |

The rival Pay TV systems charge you more than Sky for what is just a cut-down selection of Sky's channels, most of which they have just picked up from Sky and then re-encoded thereby reducing the quality. The channel selection is always out of date with any and all new channels missing, and they even make you pay for some channels which are free on Sky. |

There's not a subscription for freeview. You only pay for the extra 'on demand' services either as pay per view or a monthly subscription. If you are already a BT broadband customer, you get a free vision box (160GB digital recorder) for a £30 set up fee. Dave |

.....you pay monthly subscriptions and for nothing more than a glorified
freeview system. That seems a bit unfair. It's the host of on-demand content (watch what you want, when you want) that makes it different. Steve |
