Bastard BBC scheduling...

My set top box was programmed to receive Dr Who on BBC1 followed by DW
Confidential on BBC3 while I was recording the output continuously on a DVD
recorder. All went fine except that Dr Who overran so I missed the last few
climactic seconds of the episode. *******s, *******s, *******s. A friend
assures me this is not the first time it has happened and since DW
Confidential is never repeated in full he uses a separate DVD machine to
record each programme.

(kim)

PS: Did I mention the BBC were *******s?

Mine is set to start +1min and end +5min. Even so many starts are lost but
only a few endings.

Wouldn't it be sensible to start -1 and end +5? :-P

But you would need a twin tuner to do that and there is no indication
that OP was using a twin tuner.

You require a PVR that can record two channel simultaneously

Be aware that not all dual tuner PVRs can do this - including one that
is constantly advertised in this group :)

My Toppy was set to record DW and DWC with +1+10 but something
happened and it didn't make either recording. :-(

The BBC is inconsistent in the way they list these programs in the EPG.
Sometimes they list it as Dr Who and at other times Doctor Who. If your
set-up is searching for 'Doctor' it may miss 'Dr' and visa versa.

I use the EPG to set the timer on the set top box. Since the two programmes
are consecutive there is no room for manipulation. As the BBC already knew
the first programme would overrun, they should have altered their schedule
accordingly. I might download everything from the Internet in future. At
least that way I'm guaranteed to get the entire programme.
