Freeview box problem

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my freeview box and I'm trying to narrow
down if it's a problem with the box itself or the signal.

Firstly when I get a car going past outside the signal breaks up for a
second or so then comes back, other times the display seems to freeze
and goes pixelly, and the sound cuts in and out. I have tried the box
in a few different locations but to no effect. Channel 5 is totally
unwatchable and a lot of time BBC channels seem to be the worst
affected. Leaving the box turned off for a few hours normally cures it
but it does seem to keep coming back. I remember I had similar
problems about the same time last year.

I live in the manchester/stretford.

Any thoughts would be great.

thanks for reading this,

Neil

You don't tell us what your aerial arrangements are.
Tell us in detail where it is and how it is connected.
Do you get a good snow-free picture on the five
analogue channels?

Just going on the above statement I would say heat related. Make sure all
the ventilation holes are clear, blow in the holes see if loads of dust/crap
comes out.

Also make sure there is adequate room around it and it's not stuffed in a
small space surrounded on all sides.

I will try those suggestions it could well be dust.

Analog channels are fine plugged right into the back of the tv from my
aerial. The aerial cable goes into the back of the freeview box
(phillips) and then a scart goes from the box to my tv.

If you get breakup when a car goes past, well I thought the most likely
cause of that was poor quality aerial cable (picking up the
interference).
