Screen discoloration on Sony 50" SXRD
There is an area of discoloration in the picture on Sony 50" SXRD, it's
most noticeable against light backgrounds. If this was a conventional tube I'd think that it needs degaussing, but my impression was that this type of set has nothing to degauss. Anybody have an idea what might cause this? -- Nik Simpson |

When you call in for service give the service company the complete model and
serial number. That way they can order, and bring out, the correct optics block when they come. There are 2 different optic blocks for this model but are not interchangable. Speific device depends on serial number. Either an A-1168-494-A or A-1168-495-A. "Richard" wrote in message ... "Nik Simpson" wrote in message ... The blue sxrd panel is going bad. You need an Optical Block replacement. 'In home' repair 1-2 hours and is no big deal. Supposedly Sony has fixed the newer sxrd panes and has corrected the Do you know if this is a widespread defect? If so, how long until the defect is noticeable. I guess what I'm asking for is, is there a way for me to tell if I have a defective optical block or a good one? I've had my SXRD since November of 2006. Any advice would be most appreciated. Cheers. The defect will be very noticable, specifically when the yellow 'blob'
starts moving into your picture from the right. Until that happens don't worry then check the coverage of your extended warrenty. "pistor" wrote in message ups.com...
