Sky Movies - No PIN
Is there any way to turn off the PIN requirement for the new Sky Movies
channels? I can't find this option in the set-up menus. |

I.m afraid the "do gooders" insist the likes of SKY don't allow little kiddies access to X rated material. You can't make "child protection" optional. |

It's the price that is paid for airing adult rated content pre-watershed. It is not a problem for any channel on Freeview because they never show adult content pre-watershed. -- Cheers Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |

I understand the logic behind it, but I would have thought there would be an option to switch the whole thing off. There must be a decent proportion of Sky customers without any kids. |

Either Chan5 or Chan 4 indicate to the box when programs (films) are adult and they also require the pin. I bet Chan4 don't do that with Big Brother. |

No. Sky insist on it, because it makes timed recordings impossible and promotes their sky plus. Gaz |

Now they are using the PIN as an excuse to do so, with the result that they can't be recorded on anything but Sky+. I suppose this could be deliberate, but I think it's just the same mindset as the BBC, who have been pretending that video recorders don't exist for the last 25 years. |

I live in an apartment block that has only a single feed to each apartment. So I cant make use of the watch and record ability of Sky+. I was waiting to see what happens with the possible upcoming change to this (as mentioned before on this group), plus I was also mulling over how good the new BT Vision was. Right now, I just feel that the selection of movies shown in the new Sky Movies is not as good as the old Sky Movies. |

Before the PIN business started Sky COULDN'T show adult-rated films before the watershed and had to fill the daytime hours of the movies with largely inoffensive made-for-TV daytime pap. -- |

I guess you already know but to clarify for others living in flats with only one Sky digital cable - you can still use the record function of Sky+ but can only watch one channel at a time, i.e. you cannot record and watch a different channel. john |
