Hi-Def DVD player with 4:3 HDTV
I have a Samsung TX-T2793H and I'm considering getting the Samsung
DVD-HD10807P. Will standard fullscreen DVDs still display 4:3? |

That's a standard definition DVD player with upscaling capability. All DVD players (unless they are terribly broken) should have a menu setup selection to define your TV shape as 4:3 or 16:9. This has been part of the DVD standard since day 1. -Bill -- Sattre Press Curiosities of the Sky http://sattre-press.com/ by Garrett Serviss http://sattre-press.com/csky.html |

Thanks. The reason I asked because yesterday my son was playing a XBox game,
Soul Calibur II which is 720p and it was not fullscreen but "widescreen" with black bars on all sides. On the XBox the settings were set TV display 4:3 and 480p, 720p and 1080i. I disabled the 720p and the game was back to fullscreen. "Bill McClain" wrote in message ... The reason for that is because Soul Calibur II in 720p is displayed in a 4:3 window. So it was high def however it had the black bars all around it. When you turned the 720p off it was displaying 480p at fullscreen. I'm not sure why they coded the game that way. |

Thanks. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had displayed in normal
widescreen. Trying to explain to my 10 yr old that I didn't know what was going and didn't think the game was defective. Dang, I've got a lot to learn. Thanks to everybody here being so helpful. wrote in message ... Thanks.
