If you get hold of a couple of good quality VCRs (with HiFi stereo) for about £90 each they should last you. About £90 each I would have thought. You don't have to buy them both at once as VCRs should be available for a few years yet - until analogue switch off I expect. -- Max Demian |

Whether it's old or not, I don't know. Panasonic DMREZ45V, DVD/VCR, with Freeview tuner. From SVP's clearance section. £184.99 incl.VAT. Less £10.00, using Google Checkout. Does all DVD types, including Ram and Double Layer. No HDD or DivX. Sylvain. |

The VHS machine won't need any whizzy facilities just for copying, so get a cheap one. You'll be getting rid of it long before you've finished with the other machine. You can leave tapes copying to the hard drive as a timed recording overnight, then top-and-tail the recording, edit out the adverts and burn to DVD. Ideally, get a HDD/DVD machine with a built-in freeview tuner, but they tend to be more expensive. There's nothing to stop you using a separate freeview box, though you will have to set two time switches for making off-air recordings. Rod. |
