I've got exactly the same problem on my PT-50LCX63 (same set, but with an ATSC tuner). I called the extended warranty company, and the tech showed up this morning. He said it is a bad lamp. Then he called back to say the extended warranty wouldn't cover it. I took a chance, and called Panasonic. They asked for the lamp serial number. They offered a free exchange. I had to leave my credit card number to cover the return of the old lamp. I had to fax in the purchase receipt with the case number that they assigned. Hopefully, in 4-5 days, I'll get a new lamp. The service number is 1-888-843-9788. To remove the lamp, pull off the silver plastic cover that runs along the front. To the left side, there is a small cover with one screw. Remove the screw. The lamp is a black box as big as the opening. It has one more screw. Unscrew it, and pull out the lamp. |

Oh yea, this is an LCD TV set. There is no color wheel. That would only be in a DLP set. Don't trust the company that you called. |

Oh man. I misread your post. Blinks green, with nothing on the screen is more likely the lamp ballast. I had that problem within the first year, and Panasonic sent someone to fix it. I wasn't home, so I don't know how hard it is to replace. My TV comes on, then turns off after about a minute, with the lamp indicator blinking. It wouldn't hurt to call Panasonic anyway, but it may not be the lamp that is bad. |

And maybe all this has been discussed. But you do know about the class-action settlement, right? I would think that your's would be covered. http://www.tvlampsettlement.com/ Your TV should still be covered through May 31 of this year. Good luck! |
panasonic pt-50lc13 problem
The class action requires at least two lamp replacments and the fact that
the lamps appear to have burst internally. Contacting Panasonuc Customer Care with the sale date, model and serial number will eliminate any guess. "Dave" wrote in message ... Hmmm, my reading of the settlement (I have one of these sets, though no failures at 4500+hrs), indicates it quite clearly applies to asl low as 1 failure. There is an alternative "multiple failures" remedy which gives you the option of $1000 off a new TV or a replacement TV. That one requires 3 failures. Nothing specifically about 2 failures anywhere. Also see the discussion at: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...8&page=8&pp=50 It does appear to be for lamps, not ballasts. So he may be out of luck. But I agree he should pursue as you suggested. |
