1 in every 4 adults smoke, and in my experience smokers usually hang around
with other smokers, which unfortunately makes a mockery of that little
concocted story, because if smokers typically hang around with other smokers
then statistically speaking there must be lots of groups of non-smokers also
going in. Which also makes a mockery of the full smoking ban.

Ah well, at least the Nazis will be happy when I'm standing outside the pub
in the ****ing rain smoking my ciggie.

What, everybody? Or are you talking about the usual suspects, such as David
Ploughman, Jerry and a few people that have recently bought a DAB radio and
don't like to be told that their new radio is going to be made obsolete? I
think I can live with them thinking I'm a ****, thanks.

There are some dreadful places, and there always will be. There's a
Wetherspoons in my town, the staff are so inept I don't think any of
them have ever heard of a cloth. Every surface, and the bar itself, is
just sticky.

In any case over the last few months quite a few local pubs have
already gone smoke free. I don't detect any (net) reduction in
business for them.



i like wetherspoons pubs - i can get a mixed grill for £6
i'm easily pleased.

I tend to believe in freedom of choice. In a village where there is only
one pub then it might be ok to make it non smoking. But in most towns
there are more pubs than needed - hence the numbers closing. So I really
can't see why it can't be left up to the owner. And staff can choose to
work in the type of pub that suits them - as now. And the same with
restaurants. No one *has* to eat in one.



smokers should be grateful they are allowed to smoke at all - it's a
privelige the government doesnt extend to users of cannabis, heroin or
cocaine.

I'm sorry, haven't you understood the difficult concept of having smoking
and non-smoking pubs where smokers go to smoking pubs and non-smokers go to
non-smoking pubs?

That was what was going to happen, but Nazis such as yourself actually
wanted to go further and ban smoking in pubs altogether even though they
would never have had to set foot in another smoking pub for the rest of
their lives if they didn't want to.
