And they really do fill children's heads with nonsense. My nearly-five grand
daughter turned up here and started reciting some stuff about Christ dying
on the cross and being resurected. Apart from any religious issues it's a
basic principle of education that you don't give children material that they
are not ready for developmentally. That sort of concept is beyond a child of
that age.

I'm likely to get involved with a whacky religious group later in the year.
If so I'll adopt a pseudonym and let you know how I get on.

Buy her a copy of "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins (after you've
read it yourself of course, if you haven't already). Until she's old
enough to understand that, she's not old enough to understand the
notions it criticises either. Nobody should be presented with somebody
else's superstition as if it were fact.

What's that then? Are you going to be holding ceremonies in front of
Yagis instead of crosses?

Somebody I met on a BBC course at Wood Norton suggested that if
required to declare a religious affiliation on a form, we should put
"Cathode "Follower".

Surely that's what all religions do ? Get them before they know how to
question. We're the adults right, so we know what's best and they trust us.

I must say that I enjoy the stuff that had been popping up on BBC4 some
while ago, such as the lost gospels, Jesus's brothers and sisters, did
Jesus die on the cross - or did he naff off east and live in Pakistan ?
