I've had a look at the top uptvwebsite and it looks like you have to buy a one of thier pvr boxes. What I really want is to buy my own freeview recorder but add a few top up channels like UK gold. Tits UpTVisn't worth it, they just download a few programmes here and there from various channels to the box overnight so you can then watch them. Topup TV. Just not worth the effort or time |

That would be nice... I have a setup whereby I switch to BBC R4 when I go to bed and then when I wake up next morning I can switch the wireless speaker on and listen to Toady without getting up. Of course the new auto-standby feature killed that, until I turned it off. I doubt if I would save enough power to make it worthwhile doing something else to turn it back on again, like a Manual recording of 1 minute of R4 every day at 6AM... Apart from Anytime TV (also turned off) what else came in that last SW upgrade ? TIA |

It won't save any power at all. It's just a token exercise for Sky to make themselves sound environmentally-friendly because that's the current trendy buzzword for people to latch on to who have nothing better to think about. So what's better to think about in your opinion? It seems to me that "not thinking at all" is all to common. People who don't have the time to think about which bin rubbish should go in for example. |

Out of interest, have you actually looked at the power consumption figures for Sky boxes when on standby, compared to turned on? If so, surely your arguement would be much stronger if you posted this information. |
