Pre-Wiring
I'm building a new house soon and I'd like to pre-wire for surround
sound, home theater etc. Is there a good on-line resource that shows schematics for how I should do this, or is there a good book? I'd prefer to find a good on-line resource but if one isn't available, I'd at least like to find a book that has the information I'll need. I'm not building a dedicated home theater in the home. It'll be a great room with entertainment center etc. I'd like to have wired for it though to make it as good for entertainment as possible. I plan on at least one HTPC in another room that will have networking in it. So by the time I'm done, I hope to be able to stream video and/ or audio to any room in the house, but for surround sound, I'd like to at least have that in the great room. We have satellite tv, and I'm currently planning to have the receivers in the network room, and have the remotes set up through a wired repeater that goes via rs232 to an IR receiver in the great room (as well as other rooms where satellite is available). I'll have a video switcher in the network room that will be controlled from the various rooms (including great room), so that I can switch between satellite/ cable or dvd or whatever video source. I'm fairly confident on most of the cabling, but haven't messed with surround sound until now and would like to know what stuff to consider. |
