HD-DVD will win out for the same reason that VHS won out over BetaMax.
The porn industry has decided to use HD-DVD like they decided to use
VHS.

I had no trouble getting porn movies to watch on my BetaMax VCR!

I never had a Betamax but word was that Sony refused to licence it to
the porn industry. I suppose that pirated content could have ended up
on Betamax.

In any case, when you went to a video rental store back in the early
80s all the porn tapes were VHS and that was one of the reasons that
VHS won out over what was basically a better format.

Market conditions are different now but if the consumer sees that
most, or all, of the porn titles are available in only HD-DVD it will
influence sales of hardware.

Another factor that hurts Blu-Ray is Sony's poor sales for its PS3.
Sony is lucky that Nintendo didn't offer a HD-DVD option with its Wii
game console, but rumor has it that it will soon.

Ultimately, the consumer will decide, but you have to remember that
the porn industry is bigger than the movie industry.

In the 80s you could rent the same porn movies either on Beta or VHS so the
story about Sony not licensing to the porn industry is just a story.

I don't know where you get your rumors from but I wouldn't go there
any more. You've posted twice about the Wii getting an HD-DVD option.
I think they may want to look at a DVD option first, since it will not
even play DVD's right now (which is what they are talking about).
Also, what would be the point of an HD-DVD player on a device that can
only output 480p maximum resolution?

Check your rumors, Wii isn't an HD console. Its a fun console, but not
an HD console. (I really hope this doesn't get the Wii debate going
again).
