opinion.

I have a Vizio and it's SD is ok. The fact of it is, most plasma and
LCD screens on SD aren't going to be anything special :)

I have a Sony and I notice that SD OTA is much better than SD from Dish.
Haven't tried to figure out why.

HD is terrific OTA.

I originally subscribed to DISH HD package but their HD broadcasts, other
than ESPNHD, did not carry closed captioning which is vital for me watching
anything.

So, if you can get OTA where you are, then the SD should be better than from
DISH.

The SD channels on Dish (and DTV) are heavily compressed. (so they can fit
more
channels on a single sat transponder) That is one reason why OTA SD looks
much better.
(unless you live where I do and cannot receiver OTA channels without a 100'
tower !)

I'm using a 32" Viewsonic monitor/HDTV and SD from Dish looks better on it
than on my
60" Mits. SD big screen. I am using Component Cables on the Viewsonic for my
SD hookup
and had started out with Composite (was really crappy).
A buddy of mine has a 27" Olveia ( 427H) that looks good on both SD & HD
using component
and HDMI.

I have my 42" Hitachi plasma hooked through DishHD using the component
cables that came with the satellite receiver. Very good SD picture quality,
excellent HD picture Quality. The set cost about $1100 (after a little
haggling at Circuit City).

for 1K. It is awesome.

Hi,

It would be best to stay away from Plasma TVs if you (or anyone else)
will be using your TV to play video games (ps2 or 360) or as a
computer monitor. Some plasma TVs can experience burn-in from the
static images of video games (like scoreboards) or computer screens
(like the Windows taskbar). Also, look out for dead pixels on your
HDTV. If they bother you, make sure you can return your TV for a full
refund or exchange.

Good luck with your HDTV purchase,

Ravik Tupja
