sky setup with dvd recorder
"Paul Heslop" wrote in message ... yep, sounds that way, or possibly a faulty scart lead? Like I said, I'm not 100% on this. funnily enough it sounds like the old complaint against the ps2 doesn't it? Make sure the socket you're using on the tv is for RGB in, oh, and I think the scart has to be a fully wired one. but yes, check those settings and also the sky box settings, I think it needs scart switched on and the thing set to RGB and not PAL. To be honest I think it is an old crappy scart cable and probably not RGB one. But its working with the DVD set to component which is very strange but its all working. You don't think it will break the picture will it? |

"Alan Pemberton" wrote in message erve.co.uk.invalid... If you feed a component ('YUV' or 'YPbPr') signal into an RGB tv you get a greenish picture. You must make sure your source is also set to output RGB into the scart lead. This is what is making this complicated for me. I am not feeding a component signal into it. It is connected by scart. Its when I select RGB it goes green, even though I have a good solid scart cable which I am certain feeds RGB. Its something either on the TV, the digibox or the DVD recorder which is wrong but I cannot work out what to do. I should be able to select RGB and be done but its not happening. If I use scart and select component as the source, then I get a good picture. I cannot work it out. |

"Mike Henry" wrote in message ... Good picture with the correct colours? If so it sounds very much like that it is outputing RGB when you select component, and vice versa. Good picture, correct colours, everything normal what it should be. Myabe the DVD menu is wrong and what is listed as component is RGB and what is listed as RGB is component. If I selected the real component through scart leads would that give me the greenish hue to the screen? |

If I use scart and select component as the source, then I get a good picture. Probably a fault in the DVD player's firmware or wiring. It is probably doing the opposite of what you are setting it for. I saw one like that once. Set it to what works and don't worry about it. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. Just a simple menu problem. My worry was only that setting it to the wrong thing could harm the picture in the long run, but if that is not the case then I will not worry about it. |

Best test for this would be to record on yours from sky and then playback on a different setup, see that the quality is up to par. -- Paul (Need a lift she said much obliged) ------------------------------------------------------- Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

I did a little test when I set it up and the recordings seem okay, certainly no problems as far as I can see. |
