Maybe. I know I love mine.

No moving parts, except for the fan, to fail. Great picture.

JVC (Japan Victor Company) is fundamentally a good company, with a long
track record of quality and innovation. Unlike Sony, JVC doesn't jerk you
around; and JVC has always priced reasonably.

I have one of their Japanese market PC laptops and it's the best laptop
that I've owned; well-built and rock-solid reliable (a lot more than I can
say for any of the Sony or Apple laptops that I've owned). Sadly, JVC got
out of the laptop business.

However, in recent years, JVC has had management blunders and product
quality problems. A bad outsourcing move in China was particularly
disasterous. Rumors are that Matsu****a (Panasonic), which owns JVC, is
so disappointed with its performance that they're planning to sell it to
Kenwood. JVC management has acknowledged these problems, and last year
announced a turnaround strategy that I consider credible.

HDILA is one of the centerpieces in this turnaround strategy, and
everything that I hear about it is good. As usual, HDILA's price also
seems quite reasonable.

So, if it looks good to you, and you don't mind investing in a company
that has had a rough couple of years, go for it.

There have been JVC discussions, but DLP is much better known. In fact some
people say DLP when they actually mean "microdisplay rear projection". I
think that's a testimony to Texas Instrument advertising.

I love my JVC D-ILA after a year and a half (G-series 720p). It's everything
JVC promised and more. I highly recommend them.
