Audio Sync Problems

I am running my video through a HDMI---DVI cable and I occasionally have an
annoying audio/video sync issue.

I use to run the video through component cables and had the same problem.

Audio is run from the audio out put of the digital cable box tot he audio in
for the HD Monitor.

I frequently also have a sync issue when I play my DVDs.

I use component cables from my DVD to my HD monitor, and I use the digital
cable for my DVD audio.

Any suggestions/solutions ?

Depends on the symptoms.
If the picture is behind the sound and the difference is about or less
than a 1/10 of a second it might be the video processing delay in the
monitor that you see.

Many surround amplifiers have a delay function (LipSync- or
Global-Delay) that can be adjusted from 0-200ms for this purpose.

Some variations also shows in different film material (depending on
how good the sound was synchronised in the production).

If it is a larger delay, or the sound is behind the video, then the
cause is something else. DVR:s, DVD:s, digital TV receivers and the
broadcast equipment can misbehave and the engineers seems to have
forgotten that the synchronisation must be frequently checked and
corrected (for lost packets etc).

Is there an alternative? Does your cable box have HDMI or component
outputs? I'll guess this is the cause of your problem

A: Because since every moron quotes everything in the message to which

Audio Sync Problems

My video is always behind the audio. (Sony Qualia) Depends on the source.
I use:

http://www.lipfix.com/lip_sync_error_.html

My Dish 622 receiver has a menu: "TV1 Audio Sync" that improved the timing
to the
point that I *almost* did not need the LipFix gadget. I still need about
65mS of
delay on most sources.
